Hi guys! So as the summer and the wedding approaches, I've been feeling like I need to take better track of my fitness goals, and better care of my body! Obviously this is something I should always be mindful of to stay in good general health, but summer body and wedding body are definitely motivators lol. So, because I have zero clue about weight training/resistance/cardio or where I'm at (beginner, most likely haha) - I have only two main, overall fitness goals that I've been able to come up with!
1. Weigh 115 lbs.
This has been a fitness goal for the past 4 years running now, probably, haha. The last time I weighed 115 lbs I think I was a junior in high school, so my body hasn't necessarily "grown" since then so I think that this is still a healthy goal! Of course I'm way less active now (mandatory PE really gets you out there, haha), so I think toning up and getting rid of the accumulated fat will bring me down to this easily! I currently weight 130 lbs, so only 15 lbs to go!
2. Work out 5 times a week (at least 15 minutes).
This is such a generic fitness goal and may seem silly to some people because 15 minutes seems like nothing but to me, it's something. I am so out of shape that I'll easily be sweating and panting after 15 minutes of a moderate intensity workout, lol. I was thinking to look up youtube videos, or to download one of those snazzy cellphone apps to help me keep track and to have some kind of outline/plan to do this!
I know that these are definitely the most general and non-specific workout/fitness goals, but I figured I need to start out easy, take it day by day, and see the bigger picture before I can start narrowing down on the problem areas and create goals for those later! So I really hope this blog post keeps me accountable, haha. Let me know if you guys have any other goals or tips or tricks fitness related! Okay Bachelor fans, I'm sure many of you will recognize this phrase haha. But on a serious note, I think it's a super interesting topic and statement. Like, what IS emotional intelligence? How is it applicable to our day to day lives? And why is it so important? (Which it is, in my opinion).
I think emotional intelligence is one of those terms/things you never realize you needed to hear/have until it was actually placed right in front of your face.
I think I've been searching for the correct term that describes the awareness of ones feelings and how they act upon those feelings and how they are able to control those feelings and "emotional intelligence" hits the nail right on the head.
Personally, I am the worst at emotional intelligence. I am really good at deciphering what I'm feeling, and what the people around me are feeling, but I don't usually know what to do about it, or how to go about it the right away. For example, I can KNOW I'm sad or stressed out and I don't have a single clue how to go about it, nor can I (generally) prevent myself from acting out on those negative feelings. When I'm angry I tend to let myself stay angry, and when I'm sad I let myself overthink all the reasons I'm sad and I tend to dwell. And a huge part of being emotionally intelligent is being able to understand one's emotions and go about them in a healthy and thought out way.
So I've thought up of three super simple ways I plan on working on becoming more "emotionally intelligent" in all areas of my life:
1. Journal. Okay, maybe not necessarily write out all my feelings in a notebook (because #whohasthetime) but brain dump occasionally and really get my feelings down on paper (or screen) so that my emotions seem more tangible. I think tricking myself into making my feelings seem like actual tangible things, I can get a better gauge as to how I can take better control of this "thing" and understand myself more.
2. Count to ten. Super lame, super mom-style, but I think this will really help me especially when I feel myself getting worked up and angry. I am the worst with anger because I let it completely overtake everything else and I end up saying/doing things I don't mean and I regret it all immediately after I've calmed down. So working on calming down as I feel myself getting angry rather than after the damage has been done will *hopefully* work some magic for me.
3. Be rubber. My main problem I have when I'm upset/sad/angry is that I think about it and stress about it and worry about it and let it make me upset/sad/angry for a long time afterwards. So working on not letting little things get to me, or have such a big impact on my emotions would be the best possible thing I could do. I am SO sensitive, I let small things hurt me. But I need to work on being tougher when it comes to negative things/situations/people who I have no control over.
I hope this post helped SOME of you out there, haha. I know that even just writing this blog makes me feel like I'm another step closer to becoming more "emotionally intelligent" and that just seeing it written out and mapped out makes the whole process feel a little easier!

3. Be rubber. My main problem I have when I'm upset/sad/angry is that I think about it and stress about it and worry about it and let it make me upset/sad/angry for a long time afterwards. So working on not letting little things get to me, or have such a big impact on my emotions would be the best possible thing I could do. I am SO sensitive, I let small things hurt me. But I need to work on being tougher when it comes to negative things/situations/people who I have no control over.
I hope this post helped SOME of you out there, haha. I know that even just writing this blog makes me feel like I'm another step closer to becoming more "emotionally intelligent" and that just seeing it written out and mapped out makes the whole process feel a little easier!

Hi everyone, happy superbowl Sunday! Hope everyone is eating yummy food and enjoying the commercials, haha.
Anyway, next week marks the beginning of the FIFTH week of this spring semester! So I thought I'd give you guys a super casual and quick school update :)
+ School SUCKS. I hate it. Haha. But I KNOW that this is because I am constantly reminding myself that this is my very last semester, so I'm getting anxious and just want to be done already!
+ I had one exam so far and... yeah, school sucks. This coming week I actually have TWO more so wish me luck... haha.
+ I applied for graduation! I applied a few weeks ago and it STILL feels so good to say!
+ I've been missing SO much class it's not even funny. I thought the past few semesters were bad but I think I've already skipped more classes in the past month than I have in the previous three semesters COMBINED. Someone send me motivational quotes every morning or something, because ya girl is really not feeling it these days, haha.
+ Lastly, school is really kicking my butt... like, really. I feel so stressed out and down all the time because I feel like I have so much on my plate and I cannot mess up otherwise I'd have to take on MORE classes (which is not an option for me, lol). So, it's rough right now. Really rough.
